Intolerance is Ignorance

I just don’t understand how some people can be so misguided and hold such incredibly wrong and bigoted opinions at this point in time. ¬†We have the world at our fingertips and have countless amounts of information at our disposal, so how can we continue to be so incredibly ignorant to some issues?

  1. I think part of the problem with people and their stereotypes is that if they have no personal exposure; they never have to confront and reject their stereotypes. If people would make an effort to get to know one another and the diversity present in the human race/condition we’d all be much more tolerant and accepting of each other and our differences.

One of my favorite quotes is from Derrida is “the acknowledgement of differences … can also become a feature of a common identity”. I like to think this is applicable to all aspects of people that make us different from one another, although Derrida is referring to political context.

    Intolerance is intolerable…
